Africa Twin Tour
Tour One: Ooraminna to Broome
Leaving our overnight stay we will head through Alice and out towards the Tanami before turning left and heading west calling into Papunya and Kintore communities. Late afternoon we will make camp just west of the WA border.
Gravel roads start to get a few light sand drifts in spots as we make our way toward the Canning Stock Route.. Scenery changes and it feels like you are on the Canning Stock route a little between small dunes before we pop out at the Kunawarritji community (Well 33 CSR )for fuel. We continue on for a few more hours before making camp for the night.
Dirt roads today start to improve before we hit bitumen for the first time in well over 1500km and you get to see some of the beautiful rocky cliff faces in the Pilbara region on our way into Marble Bar.
Early look at the Comet Gold Mine in Marble bar before head towards Karijini arriving mid afternoon for 2 nights and some time to explore the gorges in the park.
Explore Karajini on your own time
All day on the bitumen heading through the outskirts of Port Headland and into Eighty Mile Beach for a fish for the afternoon enjoying this beautiful coast line.
Final day and an easy run into Broome and time to talk about this great trip over dinner near our accom.
Tour Two: Broome to Kununurra
Head down to Cable Beach for a departure photo and we head up to Willie Creek Pearl Farm for lunch. After lunch its an easy run along the highway into Wilare Bridge for our camp for the night.
Wilare Bridge to Derby for a look at the Jetty before we finally make a turn and start heading along the Gibb River Road. The walk into Windjana Gorge is beautiful and after a home made lunch we head towards MT Barnett Roadhouse for the afternoon and a swim before dinner in the camp ground.
We see a few water crossings today for the first time and enjoy some of the spectacular scenery along the Gibb stopping to photograph those memories. Tonight we spend the night at Mitchell Falls Plateau. Here you have the option to walk or enjoy the falls from the air.
Take our time today and make our way back towards Drysdale Station for the night.
Today the scenery again just doesn’t stop on the Gibb River Road as we make our way to Home Valley station. The final run down into home Valley is awesome.
Today is your final leg on the Gibb River Road as we head for Lake Argyle Resort / Caravan park. Most of today is bitumen after we leave Home Valley. I enjoy the run up to Lake Argyle looking at the colour of the escarpments.
We drop you at Kununurra for you return flights. (Customer to book flights)
