Birdsville to Alice Springs
The inaugural Daryl Beattie Adventures tour was just fantastic. The Simpson Desert Tour boasted a group of Brisbane boys, who arrived in Birdsville via SkyTrans.
It proved a tough week with extreme temperatures. One day the reading off the sand with the lazer gun was 65 degrees. The boys needed every bit of their three-litre bladder plus a water bottle for the 200km rides every day. Being able to have a cool shower under the stars every night was a definite bonus.
It was surprising just how deserted the track was. The dunes were untouched which made for great riding.
It was fantastic to share the inaugural tour with mates that I had previously ridden with. Can’t wait to do it all over again soon!
